A Prayer Answered

Last night, I received a text from my mom saying that she was praying for a cool breeze for us to sleep with. Her prayers were answered. I was freezing when I woke up and had my blanket on. I was a little concerned that I was sick or something, but I wasn't the only one so I figured it was just cooler last night. But yes mom, a cool breeze was sent!

At chapel this morning, we did a more powerful skit for the JHS. The kids, however, missed part of the message because they struggle with talking during chapel. Ivan did a great job at explaining the skit afterwords. He really emphasizes that we don't have to do anything but believe in Jesus to get into heaven. It's sad to see and hear how these kids think that good works will get them Into heaven. That has been our goal this week. To make sure they know that Jesus loves them no matter what they do.
We had no power in the church this morning. It was very, very hot. The power came on while we were singing "Jesus Loves Me Alleluia" version. We definitely emphasized the "alleluia" when the fans turned on. And about 20 minutes later they turned off again. Oh well, we were thankful while it lasted.
In primary chapel, our story was about when Jesus appears to his disciples on the shore and feeds them breakfast. They really seemed to grasp the concept, those who were paying attention anyways. It was so hot in there, I'm sure it was just as hard for them to focus as it partially was for me.

On Thursdays, the JHS has an hour of P.E. Class outside. It's more like a recess and there are no teachers watching them. I've become friends with Emma, and she asked Alicia and I to play with her and her friends. We ended up playing basketball with the boys and Jordan. It was so much fun! Thanks to Alicia, my team definitely won. After basketball, I went and sat with Emma and her friends. It was nice to get to talk with them and hear about their daily lives.

For breakfast, we had spring rolls, ketchup, and coffee. The spring rolls were spicy, which was odd to have for breakfast.

We got to go to the three year old class today. They were so awesome and loved coloring their pictures of Jesus! One little girl's name was Kayla! We are now best buddies!

Lunch was interesting. I'm not sure what it was. Some sort of chicken with cabbage and palm oil, rice, and fresh mangoes!!

We also went to the music teacher today. He taught us a song in Twi, which is their native language here. I loved learning it!

When it was time to go to the 3rd grade classroom, they were having a class. We had to wait 20ish minutes until they were done. While we were waiting, we got to plan the craft for tomorrow! We can check that off our list!
The third grade class was awesome! We combined the two classes for time's sake. They made fish to go along with the bible story about Jesus making breakfast. The fish were so awesome and they loved coloring them. This class was one of the easiest craft sessions we've done and we were able to leave in good time.

It's starting to get bitter sweet thinking about how we will be going home in a week. I feel as if there is so much more work and relationship building that needs to be done here with the children. I don't know if I'm ready to go home just yet...

Tonight we had a lot of visitors come in to stay at the guest house.  There is an entire group from Oklahoma here, and they are going home tomorrow. They've been out building a house for a week. I do not think I could do that in this heat. No thank you.
We played UNO before dinner. One game was literally 40 minutes. I had so many cards!! We had to end the game when the dinner bell rang. I won with the most cards. For dinner we had hamburgers. They were soo delicious! The best buns I've ever had on a burger. We had devos and got things ready for tomorrow! I'm exhausted. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!
