On the drive over...what a culture shock! Most of the roads are two lanes and people are passive aggressive drivers. There are so many people and cars going every which way. On the sides of the road, there are markets galore! This is where people do some of their shopping. It's interesting how they don't have a huge supermarket where you can get all of the items. Each shop is family owned and looks as of it only sells one thing. The women here do carry things on their heads! I saw one woman who was carrying a tv, and another with a plate of a mountain of peanuts.
Trinity is the school I will be at for the next two weeks. We walked around the school and it was all outdoors and the windows open. The children were do excited and happy to see us. They would all wave like crazy people when they saw us. It's quite a sight. We were introduced to each of the classrooms and the children are so respectful of their teachers. It's quite amazing.
When we arrived back at the house, we started planning what we would be doing in each of the classrooms for the next few days. We are following the bible stories from CPH Gangway to Galilee VBS for five days. My group at Trinity is starting our VBS tomorrow, while the St. Paul's group is starting theirs Monday.
Ivan Rasch (our missionary leader) said that people will give more support if you are actually doing something. Here we are physically accomplishing nothing. 90% of our mission is accomplished when we arrive. We get 90% done when we come here to BE with the people and children. The other 10% is our work in the classrooms. I really like his philosophy.
Pray that our groups get off to a good start tomorrow and we have energy to do it. This humidity is beating us all and we have to leave the house by 6am. I'm going to bed.
